Britain Loves Baking is a new website providing recipes and ingredients delivered straight to your home! When Coronavirus or Covid19 hit the world, many us us Brits began baking at home. It’s well known that stores ran out of key ingredients, such as flour. Britain Loves Baking was developed with this in mind. You don’t need to go out for the ingredients, they’ll deliver it to you.
I’ve already reviewed their Brownies Your Way Box, which you can read here. But this post is all about a British classic – The Afternoon Tea.

Let’s be honest, the best part about ‘afternoon tea’ is the cakes, this box gives you several recipes to make your own yummy treats.
Britain Loves Baking individually pack and label each ingredient and have clear recipe cards where instructions are easy to follow. So even if you’re a novice like me, they’re fun and easy to use.

This box retails at £17 with the following recipes:
- Traditional British Tea Cakes
- Zesty Fruit Scone with Cherry Compote
- Dark Chocolate and Orange Cake
- British Almond and Coconut Macaroon
All of the ingredients in the boxes are shelf-stable for 30 days. I found all of the recipes really easy to follow and I’m not usually a baker!

My favourites:
I have never baked macaroons before, but they were so easy to make! I think this was the quickest bake I’ve tried. The smelt delicious whilst baking too. What I liked best, was that they provided a piping bag and nozzle for you to make it easier.
The chocolate cakes didn’t have the orange decorations, but perhaps these were just missing from my box. However, they still tasted delicious and again, so easy to make.
I did really like that there were savoury recipes too, not just sandwiches for this afternoon tea!

Perfect with a cup of tea (also kindly provided in the box!). Of course, no afternoon tea is complete without a china set and cake stand. I purchased mine in a charity shop for next to nothing!
New ranges are being released all the time, even specialist children’s bakes. There’s also interactive baking classes on their YouTube channel.
