MLB Box is a fabulous new company that offers a premium beauty box containing high end brands, for a fraction of the price. A one month subscription is available at £35.00pm, but you can also purchase past boxes. If you choose to subscribe to 12 months; this equates to a free box!
They are a small business, which started amongst friends on Facebook, so let’s all support them to grow!
Here, I will review May’s box. The brands included are as follows;
- Dior
- Bobbi Brown
- Real Techniques
- Korres
- Elethea
+Extras
Firstly, they come beautifully packaged in a black, reusable box – not just your standard cardboard container. This has a magnet close and is perfect as a jewelry box. They also produce a lovely information card explaining all of the products. You may think this isn’t important, but I can assure you, for a subscription box lover like myself, this is essential. I want to know about the product, the brand and where I can find them on social media.
They’re spoiler this month, was a full sized Bobbi Brown product. I was ecstatic about this and couldn’t wait to get my box. This is a brand I can’t usually commit to splurging on. I was extremely lucky to get the beautiful shade 2 ‘Antigua’. Though it is described as a bronzing powder, it’s more of a deep blush. This is ideal for me, with red undertones I can’t use a blushers that’s too pink! This is so pigmented, it’s going to last for ages. I just love it!
Similarly, this was my first Dior product too. Rouge Liquid Dior in shade ‘Poison Metal’ to be exact. Wow. This formular. It has a metallic sheen to it and it dries really quickly like a lipstick, but is still moisturising like a gloss. I can certainly see the hype, the applicator is very precise. However for my little lips, this shade is just a little too harsh for me. I’m currently wearing it around the house, chancing that the postman doesn’t knock!
Each box contained a random Real Techniques brush. I received the smallest ‘Detailer Brush’ from their Core Collection, which is just what I needed. The bristles are firmer than my current eyeshadow applicators, so this is perfect for a cut crease.
Next, a lilac eyeshadow from Korres. I haven’t heard of this brand before, so it was nice to try something new. The shade was well pigmented and added a subtle dust of colour to my lids. It includes sunflower and evening primrose oils to promote hydration, which is great for sensitive eyelids.
Again, Elethea wasn’t a brand I’d heard of. But their light-textured day and night cream comes enclosed in it’s own stand and gorgeous glass bottle. It really does feel luxurious. It is a very light cream, which is nice to apply just before your primer, because it sinks in quickly. It protects the skin barrier from moisture loss without leaving an oily residue behind. At night, I’ve been adding a slightly thicker layer, which has given me lovely soft skin in the morning.
If that’s not enough to convince you to buy this box, each contains a bundle of extras too. This month a 25g sample of Magnum Signature Chocolate and a super sweet smelling bath bomb from ‘Beautiful Bathing Treats’. The Real Techniques brush is also counted as an extra.
MLB say their box would retail individually at £90.99 but this doesn’t include the extras!
