Aqua Moisturisers

Intense ‘aqua’ moisturisers seem to be all the rage in the beauty industry at the moment.

Admittedly, when Clinique brought out their ‘Moisture Surge’ I was impressed. It soothed dry skin and locked in moisture. I definitely noticed a difference from my regular, daily moisturiser. Clinique were one of the first big brands I noticed that widely promoted this type of product. A little goes along way and it absorbs quickly without any strong smells. The Moisture Surge™ 72-Hour Auto-replenishing Hydrator is only £36 for 50ml.

Next, I noticed Dior released ‘Hydra Life’ their ‘Fresh Hydration’ Sorbet Crème is £48 for 50ml. Sadly, I’m yet to get my hands on a sample of this one, but the jar is a cool turquoise shade.

Similarly, the aqua coloured packaging from L’OCCITANE En Provence from their ‘Aqua Réotier’ range was launched on 6th April 2018. The moisturiser comes as a gel (normal/combination) or cream (dry/normal). The gel was great for cooling my skin, but is better suited to oily skin. I loved the feel of the cream, I felt it gave my skin some elasticity and smoothed the surface. The price is amazing (£28 for 50ml), but the scent is a little overpowering.

The moisturisers are all water based, promising powerful hydration, for a prolonged period of time.

L’OCCITANE contains hyaluronic acid – perfect for hydration. Dior offers 24hour hydration, but Clinique boasts 72. However, Dior brands as a sorbet, which sounds quite luxurious. I love the Clinique Moisture Surge, especially as it can be applied above makeup and as a mask. But, the price of L’OCCITANE is very appealing, especially after how soft it left my skin.

Laneige do a similar cream for around £28 for 50ml. The Water Bank Moisture Cream is tricky to get hold of in the UK, but not impossible. This too promises 24hour moisture. And, I’ve spotted Neutrogena releasing a body lotion version.
